In Downtown Claremont, on the second floor of an artsy mall you can find the Flappers Comedy Club. The intimate club hosts hilarious comedians, a comedy traffic school, and a special (Sundays only!)”Two Milk Minimum Family Friendly Show”.
The audience consisted of kids ages 3- 13, and even with that wide an age gap, each one of them was equally entertained. Seasoned veteran Michael Raynor’s slightly indifferent, snarky, yet hilarious delivery had the adults snickering and the kids jumping out of their seats responding to his questions or daring him to use additional items in his juggling act. Think a cross between Bob Newhart and Anthony Bourdain.
David Martinez is a Flappers favorite, and once you see his show you’ll know why. This naturally bubbly magician (with an infectious laugh) puts on a magic/comedy act that can astound you one minute, and make you roll your eyes the next. Although my 3 year old wasn’t able to understand every joke, she loved every “trick”. Martinez’s performance, and the intimacy of the club, allowed the kids to yell out what they felt he was doing wrong, and then proclaim, “Wow!” and “Cool!” when his act took you in a different direction then you once thought. This act is revolving. David Martinez may not be here when you come, but Flappers has you covered with a wide variety of family-friendly entertainers!
Have you ever taken the whole family to a comedy club? If not, why not give it a try? Flappers Comedy Club “Two Milk Minimum” show is performed every Sunday at 4:30 in Claremont. Tickets are $10/each. 2 years and under are free.
